A small independent coffee roaster based in the heart of Britain’s Ocean City — Plymouth.

Our journey began after serving as a Stoker in the Royal Navy and following a deep love for coffee. We’re a small business truly born from the sea, just a lot less salty sea spray and a lot more caffeine. Leaving the high seas behind — slightly bewildered and windswept — our passion for coffee continued to grow. From the first time we roasted green coffee beans in a pan on the hob, filling the kitchen with smoke and set off the smoke alarm, something unique was sparked!

As fun as it was to fill the kitchen with smoke, it soon became… less acceptable. The inevitable eviction from the kitchen led to a natural next step — a small sample roaster. That little machine changed everything, opening up a whole new world to learn, experiment, and refine our craft. It allowed us to understand the art of roasting and create some truly fantastic coffees, and a few less successful ones — definitely not the coffee’s fault.

After a couple of years roasting on that small machine, I began to worry I’d missed my midlife crisis. Not wanting to feel left out, a slightly larger coffee roaster somehow appeared one day — and this beauty has been with us ever since. That upgrade opened the door for us to share our coffee and provide fantastic coffee tot he doorstep of the local community.

As a small independent roaster, every batch is hand-roasted with all the love and attention it could wish for.

We’re passionate about sourcing exceptional coffees from around the world, selecting distinctive origins from trusted suppliers. Each is roasted to highlight the inherent flavours that make a truly great cup of coffee.
